I co-founded Mono in 2013 and co-ran it for eight years. It grew into an eight-person digital-product company with approximately €500,000 in annual revenue and more than 70 clients.
I led people management and complex client engagements, while sharing responsibility for strategy, hiring, finance and delivery. We often worked as an embedded product partner rather than a conventional agency, taking long-term roles inside companies including SweepBright, NGDATA and moveUP.
We tried to operate the company deliberately. Mono was remote-first before that was common, kept its structure small, and treated people and commercial responsibilities as part of the same job as the work itself. When we decided to close the company in 2021, we found new roles for the team, paid and supported people through the transition, and the founders left last.
